La señal
Un señor muy creyente sentía que estaba cerca de recibir una luz que le iluminara el camino que debía seguir.
Todas las noches, al acostarse, le pedía a Dios que le enviara una señal sobre cómo tenía que vivir el resto de su vida.
Así anduvo por la vida, durante dos o tres semanas en un estado pensativo buscando recibir una señal divina.
Hasta que un día, paseando por un bosque, vio a un cervatillo caído, tumbado, herido, que tenía una pierna medio rota.
Se quedó mirándolo y de repente vio aparecer a un puma. La situación lo dejó congelado; estaba a punto de ver cómo el puma,
aprovechándose de las circunstancias, se comía al cervatillo de un solo bocado. Entonces se quedó mirando en silencio, temeroso también de que el puma, no satisfecho con el cervatillo,
lo atacara a él. De repente, vio al puma acercarse al cervatillo. Entonces ocurrió algo inesperado: en lugar de comérselo, el puma comenzó a lamer las heridas.
Después se fue y volvió con unas pocas ramas humedecidas y se las acercó al cervatillo con la pata para que este pudiera beber el agua; y después se fue y trajo un poco de hierba húmeda y se la acercó para que el cervatillo pudiera comer.
Increíble.
Al día siguiente, cuando el hombre volvió al lugar, vio que el cervatillo aún estaba allí, y que el puma otra vez llegaba para alimentarlo, lamer las heridas y darle de beber.
El hombre se dijo:
Esta es la señal que yo estaba buscando, es muy clara. “Dios se ocupa de proveerte de lo que necesites, lo único que no hay que hacer es ser ansioso y desesperado corriendo detrás de las cosas”.
Así que agarró su ataerito, se puso en la puerta de su casa y se quedó ahí esperando que alguien le trajera de comer y de beber.
Pasaron dos horas, tres, seis, un día, dos días, tres días… Pero nadie le daba nada.
Los que pasaban lo miraban y él ponía cara de pobre cito imitando al cervatillo herido, pero no le daban nada. Hasta que un día pasó un señor muy sabio que había en el pueblo y el pobre hombre, que estaba muy angustiado, le dijo:
– Dios me engañó, me mandó una señal equivocada para hacerme creer que las cosas eran de una manera y eran de otra.
¿Por qué me hizo esto? Yo soy un hombre creyente…
Y le contó lo que había visto en el bosque.
El sabio lo escuchó y luego dijo:
– Quiero que sepas algo. Yo también soy un hombre muy creyente.
Dios no manda señales en vano. Dios te mandó esa señal para que aprendieras.
El hombre le preguntó:
– ¿Por qué me abandonó?
Entonces el sabio le respondió:
– ¿Qué haces tú, que eres un puma fuerte y listo para luchar, comparándote con el cervatillo?
Tu lugar es buscar algún cervatillo a quien ayudar, encontrar a alguien que no pueda valerse por sus propios medios.
Galletitas
A una estación de trenes llega una tarde, una señora muy elegante. En la ventanilla le informan que el tren está
retrasado y que tardará aproximadamente una hora en llegar a la estación.
Un poco fastidiada, la señora va al puesto de diarios y compra una revista, luego pasa al kiosco y compra un
paquete de galletas y una lata de gaseosa.
Preparada para la forzosa espera, se sienta en uno de los largos bancos del andén. Mientras hojea la revista, un
joven se sienta a su lado y comienza a leer un diario. De repente la señora ve, por el rabillo del ojo, cómo el
muchacho, sin decir una palabra, estira la mano, agarra el paquete de galletas, lo abre y después de sacar una comienza
a comérsela con muchas ganas.
La mujer está indignada. No está dispuesta a ser grosera, pero tampoco a hacer de cuenta que nada ha pasado;
así que, con gesto ampuloso, toma el paquete y saca una galletas que exhibe frente al joven y se la come mirándolo
fijamente.
Por toda respuesta, el joven sonríe… Y toma otra galleta.
La señora gime un poco, toma una nueva galleta y, con ostensibles señales de fastidio, se la come sosteniendo
otra vez la mirada en el muchacho.
El diálogo de miradas y sonrisas continúa entre galleta y galleta. La señora cada vez más irritada, el muchacho
cada vez más divertido.
Finalmente, la señora se da cuenta de que en el paquete queda solo la última galleta. ” No podrá ser tan
caradura”, piensa, y se queda como congelada mirando alternativamente al joven y a las galletas.
Con calma, el muchacho alarga la mano, toma la última galleta y, con mucha suavidad, la corta exactamente por
la mitad. Con su sonrisa más amorosa le ofrece media a la señora.
¡Gracias! – dice la mujer tomando con rudeza la media galleta.
– De nada – contesta el joven sonriendo angelical mientras come su mitad.
El tren llega.
Furiosa, la señora se levanta con sus cosas y sube al tren. Al arrancar, desde el vagón ve al muchacho todavía sentado en el banco del andén y piensa: ” Insolente”.
Siente la boca reseca de ira. Abre la cartera para sacar la lata de gaseosa y se sorprende al encontrar, cerrado, su
paquete de galleta…!Intacto!.
