Un niño invita a su padre o a su madre a jugar un rato. ¿Respuesta? “No tengo tiempo”. Luego el padre o la madre dedican más de dos horas al chat.
Un joven llama por teléfono a su amigo. Quiere desahogarse, ser escuchado. Después de 5 minutos, del otro lado escucha: “Mira, ahora estoy muy ocupado y no tengo tiempo para seguir. Si quieres, otro día hablamos”. Luego, el amigo “muy ocupado”, se sienta en un sofá para matar la tarde con un video juego.
La esposa le pide al esposo salir de compras. Él le dice que no tiene tiempo. Luego, le llaman sus amigos para ir a jugar golf. Y va.
Las situaciones son muchas. Los motivos para decir “no tengo tiempo” cambian de persona a persona. Unos, realmente válidos, indican que tenemos urgencias inderogables: si hay un familiar enfermo tenemos que ir al hospital y por eso decimos “no tengo tiempo” a quien nos pida algo en este momento. Otros, menos válidos (a veces fútiles) simplemente nacen de nuestras preferencias, gustos, planes personales.
Si preferimos un rato de televisión en vez de escuchar a un anciano que quiere ser atendido, no digamos “no tengo tiempo”. Seamos sinceros, y digamos, al otro y a nosotros mismos, que preferimos descansar en vez de ese gesto hermoso pero a veces difícil de ofrecer oídos, corazón y tiempo a quien nos lo pide.
Solo cuando seamos sinceros y determinemos con claridad dónde se nos escapa el tiempo, qué gustos nos atan a banalidades o a cosas serias pero no imprescindibles, cómo perdemos momentos preciosos de la propia vida en asuntos que satisfacen provisionalmente pero luego nos dejan descontentos y vacíos, podremos tener el valor de reorientar nuestras preferencias.
Si, además, abrimos el corazón a las luces de Dios, si dejamos purificar el alma de avaricias y perezas que nos atan al mundo y a la carne, descubriremos que sí hay tiempo, mucho tiempo, para ayudar, para acompañar, para servir, para amar, sobre todo a quienes viven a nuestro lado.
La actitud de preocuparse de los demás crea una situación que fortalece el carácter y mejora la autoestima por haber podido contribuir al bien de los demás.
Si uno da su tiempo no se queda con menos, al contrario se le multiplica y se enriquece, una regla matemática difícil de explicar. El dar es un acto que carga de energía positiva a las personas además de que trae luz al mundo que vivimos.
Hay personas calladas y precisan de alguien para conversar.
Hay personas tristes que precisan de alguien que las mime.
Hay personas tímidas que precisan de alguien que las ayude a vencer la timidez.
Hay personas solas que precisan de alguien para compartir momentos.
Hay personas con miedo que precisan de alguien para darles una mano.
Hay personas fuertes que precisan de alguien que las hagas pensar en la mejor manera de usar su fuerza.
Hay personas habilidosas que precisan de alguien para ayudar a descubrir la mejor manera de usar su habilidad.
Hay personas que juzgan que no saben hacer nada y precisan de alguien que las ayude a descubrir cuanto saben hacer.
Hay personas apresuradas que precisan de alguien para mostrarle todo lo que no tienen tiempo de ver.
Hay personas impulsivas que precisan de alguien que las ayude a no lastimar a los otros.
Hay personas que se sienten de afuera y precisan de alguien que les muestre el camino de entrada.
Hay personas que dicen que no sirven para nada y precisan de alguien que las ayude a descubrir como son importantes.
Si abrimos el corazón, sí hay tiempo, para ayudar, para acompañar, para servir, para amar.
